Howdy, Internet Folk!
Or, well, I guess you’re just regular folk who happen to be on the internet at this moment, or maybe a friend saw this about page, handwrote it, then showed it to you, in which case you’re just a real life folksperson and you have weird friends.
But enough about you. I’m Russ Nickel, that guy at the top of the page with spiky blonde hair and those vacant, unseeing blue eyes. As you can see, I like to smile, and nothing makes me happier than making you smile, which is why I’ve started this humor blog. Also, because of the obscene amounts of money you make blogging. See, I’m being funny already! We’re going to have the best time.
That curly-haired stud on the left with the snazzy mustache beard combo and the nose that protrudes about as far as Voldemort’s is Sam Julian, resident artist, musician, editor and lover extraordinaire.
Together, we are…
Reasonably Ludicrous!
Faster than 80 words per minute, more powerful than a local voter, and able to leap over each other in a single game of leapfrog.
It’s an impressive list of attributes, if I do say so myself.
Anyway, if you feel like laughing, especially at people who are less successful than you are, go ahead and stay a while.

Nice work on your first post! What a way to start out blogging… 🙂
You meet the nicest people in the funniest places, eh?
Isn’t this guy awesomely funny?

Woohoo! We got so lucky!
Great blog, so far, and congrats on your first post being “Freshly Pressed.”
Thanks! I just remembered I had an about page, so I’m responding to things 2 months later!
I’m a fan! If someone’s “about” can make me subscribe,I know I’ve found a good thing.
Woohoo! I tossed this about page together in a couple of haphazard minutes, never suspecting that thousands of people would be reading it mere hours later. I might’ve spent a little more time on it haha.
LOL!
Welcome to Blogdom..or Blogville as some call it! 🙂
Thanks! It seems like a pretty nice. I think I’ll stay a while (and listen).
Hey, everyone who starts a blog is trying to battle to the money-making “gladiatorial ring” as you say. Great first post, and I’ll be looking forward to more from you.
So far I’ve managed to stay relatively unscathed in the battle. Hopefully the emperor’s enjoying my fighting prowess and will end up granting me my freedom and a small bit of land in a distant corner of the blogosphere where I can raise a family.
Starting out with a bang! I enjoyed your post immensely and can’t wait to read more. Please include more pictures of dinosaurs and moon-women.
I love Sam’s dinosaurs and moon-women too. I just wish I could find some real life ones!
Definitely good for a much needed laugh. I’m just starting out on my English majordom, and I am jealous that your path allowed you to get out of any real work. I guess that’s what I get for studying another language besides English. Anyway, I look forward to reading your posts!
P.S. So jealous…
I take that back. Just found your other blog. Not quite as jealous. Nicely done, though!
Haha. No one is supposed to know about the other blog! Nooo. The secret has been revealed! Perhaps movie-reviewing wasn’t my calling.
I love the idea of having pictures along with your blog. Keep up the good work!
Great start to a blog! So totally un-informative and devoid of any useful contribution to the evolutionary advancement of the human race… I love it!!! Reading through your witty banter is thouroughly relaxing and enjoyable. Waiting for the next brainless instalment!
Haha. Uninformative is right up my alley! Hopefully I can help us devolve just a little further.
What a great post to start my morning! Congratulations for being freshly pressed!
I actually wish I’d pursued an English degree – at least then I probably wouldn’t be teaching myself general grammar rules and such. (Passive voice? What’s that?). 🙂
Love the blog – made me giggle. (Or chortle, chuckle, giggle – go online thesaurus, go!).
Hmmmm….that comment would have probably been better if I hadn’t used giggle twice.
The more giggles the better I say.
I love the art and the content! You must be destined for this, what with being Freshly Pressed on the first post. 😀
Well, I was adopted, and I did find out that there was an ancient prophecy regarding my bloodline, soooo…
Dude, you’re destined for greatness.
Especially given all the micro breweries in San Luis.
SLO <3's beer
First post is impressive!! I’m following this blog for sure…looking forward to more of your writing! 😀
Impressive job, Russ! Record breaker … I love your piece of work at FP today.
Funny and intriguing! Congrats on being English Major from Stanford.
That’s an interesting first post!
Looking forward to more 🙂
Wow, congrats on you’re first post being Freshly Pressed! I’m sure that’s unusual. o: Love the writing, love the pictures. I’m subscribing, good luck! xxx
I write a humor column for a magazine and you… will teach me things. Hilarious!
You had me at double extra bonus points.
It IS a major step up from hello 🙂
Hey! Stanford graduate, English major with an absolutely witty sense of humor is exactly the kind of internet neighbour I was looking for.
Great posts and hope to get to know you better through your writings.
I’m happy to have moved in next to such welcoming people. And on the internet, anyone can be your neighbor, just like Farmville keeps telling me.
I’m here, finally. Don’t know what took me so long seeing as I had seen your blog on Freshly pressed but kept thinking what’s so ‘oopsy’ about getting an English degree! Ha! I’m glad I stopped by, it’s a great blog and I enjoyed the humour! Tuesday is already my favourite day of the week and I’ve now got one more reason to love it: a fresh dose of humour from Reasonably Ludicrous every Tuesday. Congs on getting freshly-pressed.
Yay! Now I’m curious about why Tuesday is your favorite day.
Can’t wait to read more from you; your first post was absolutely hilarious! 😀 … also, congrats on being freshly pressed. (:
I feel ridiculously happy that I didn’t find you via Freshly Pressed:-) I found your blog while tag surfing and your title got my eye. I am the English major who always has to make my own discoveries!
Great first post – both the text and the illustrations! Good luck to both of you with this blogging shtick!
Nice Job
Long ago I got a history degree. It was just after all the academic jobs in the field dried up. I think that it can’t be true. Someone’s got to preside over those classes that the communications majors take. It was never me. I tried a regular type college grad job. It was comical and it sucked. I drifted into newspapers.
Decades later, I drifted out, and into computer science of all things. But by the that time it was not for money or jobs.
Anyway, money from the Internet is not so easy to come by. If the New York Times can’t make a living at it, what makes any of us think it’s easy?
I majored in English…now I’m back in school 🙂 Your posts make me smile. Looking forward to more!
Thanks for adding me to your blogroll!
Thanks for being so entertaining!
